Complexity is Conquered by Youth

by webmasterjunkie on Jun.14, 2011, under General, Political

Well, I am no huge fan of politics, and my daughter is too young, she’s only 4, to understand the word. However, she is you enough to provide simple solutions to complex problems like homelessness.

Yesterday we were driving home and she asked me, “Where did all the people live before they built all the houses.”

It took me a minute to come up with an answer, “They all lived in tents I suppose.” That was the best I could give her. The conversation went on to how it costs a lot of money to buy a house, and that is why mommy and daddy work a lot.

She quickly responded, “Is that why some people don’t have a house?”

“Yes, because they can’t afford one.” Now this is where I was beaming with pride and love.

She quickly retorted, “Well, if people need houses to sleep and eat in shouldn’t we build them one anyway?” She chose the word build due to the fact that ours was built and she has seen pictures of the process I suppose. Either way, I was taken aback. Such a simple solution that looks past all the issues involved in the problem and provided a solution.

If we could turn our country into a resourced based economy as opposed to a monetary one, we would be much better off. Just my two cents – well one cent form me and one from my daughter.
