Javascript, jQuery, Web Design & More

OK, all of us in the field of web design are familiar with jQuery and it’s use in developing a website. However, I still find it amazing how much it can simplify the development of a website. With that being said, it is important to remember how much it can impact the experience of a website. A good example of this is how Facebook used to look without JavaScript.

We can’t build a website that is built around JavaScript in good conscience, and good practice says we shouldn’t. There are still a good amount of users that have outdated browsers or are on restricted networks. A website should always have an alternate design if the designers rely on JavaScript to display content. This is the only way to maintain accessibility and some semblance of a user experience. The same goes for have a separate style sheet and design for mobile browser content.
